Carey Hart, husband of pop star P!nk and father of their two children, Willow and Jameson, really stepped in it this time. The former motocross competitor and current off-road truck racer has been traveling alongside his wife as she continues her Beautiful Trauma world tour and the couple's 7-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son have been a part of that journey every step along the way.
Somewhere along the way, baby Jameson managed to contract Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease, a highly contagious virus that usually works its way out of the infected person's system in about 10 days. Until then, according to WebMD, the infected person suffers from sore throat, rash, fever, and painful sores inside the mouth or coating the tongue. Though non-fatal, it's a nasty little sickness.
While they were traveling for the tour, the family stayed in hotels and that's where Carey came face-to-face with someone who didn't take too kindly to him bringing his sick kid around her. When Carey made an Instagram post calling that woman out, not all of his followers agreed that he was in the right.
Many people criticized Carey for his flippant remarks about the woman's concerns. Instagram user @trixorcist commented, "I bet that 'vile woman' knew exactly what it was and was looking at you like the asshole that you are for putting others at risk." Others critical of Carey were a little more diplomatic to him, but that didn't save him from their sharp retort.
"Sorry the kids are sick. My suggestion is to get some help to be with them so you can do your shows rested up and they can be taken care of," one Instagram user wrote. "I hope they feel better soon."
That doesn't sound too bad, does it?
Oddly enough, Carey didn't appreciate the kindly bits of advice offered by his followers. To the above comment, he had the following response: "Are you serious???? You are what's wrong with this judgmental world."
It's obvious this is a bit of a tricky subject.
Though Hand, Foot, And Mouth disease isn't a deadly illness, it can cause a lot of pain and a lot of nuisance for the people who get it, especially if they're parents themselves. It could be said that Carey was only thinking of himself and his own family when he brought little Jameson around others while he was still contagious, but it's difficult for a family as busy as P!nk and Carey's to quarantine one of their children, especially when they're on tour.
Did Carey make the right decision, or should he have kept Jameson separated from everyone else to avoid spreading the disease? Let us know what you think in the comments!
