Aside from the fact that her baby was due on her birthday, everything was going pretty normally for Kristina McIntosh. She and her husband Kyle Smith, both of Omaha, Nebraska, were eagerly expecting their daughter's birth. But all it took was one fateful day for this totally normal pregnancy to turn into something completely shocking and unexpected.

One day well before the due-date, Kristin began experiencing extremely painful contractions. The contractions were so intense, in fact, that she was transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. After assessing the situation, her doctor decided that it would best to deliver the baby immediately via c-section. Kristen explained, "My contractions were so bad that [the baby] was just constantly quivering, so they had to do an emergency C-section."

The delivery was done without any major complications. But it was what the new parents discovered about the doctor who had delivered their daughter, Hunter-Rose, that shocked and amazed them.

On Hunter-Rose's birth certificate was the name of the doctor who had delivered her: Dr. Sotolongo. This name seemed strangely familiar to both Kristina and Kyle, but at first, they couldn't figure out where they had seen it before...

Suddenly, they realized---they recognized the name "Sotolongo" because it was on both of their birth certificates too. They had been looking over them a few weeks before and had noticed the coincidence. Now, not only was Sotolongo responsible for delivering both Kristina and Kyle, but also for delivering their daughter too. He had delivered an entire family!

Considering that Sotolongo has worked in the same hospital for 28 years, something like this was bound to happen eventually. Yet he was still shocked when Kyle told him the news.

"He comes over, 'Everything went great,' and I was like, 'Yeah, it was probably the same situation when you delivered me,' and he had kind of a puzzled look. And that's when I told him... He was kind of shocked," Kyle said.

Dr. Sotolongo admitted as much: "I was very surprised. I realized I've been doing this for a while."

He also joked about the possibility of delivering Hunter-Rose's child too someday: "Maybe in the future, I can deliver the child. Who knows! I'll be very old."
